An installation commissioned by France's Design Institute that questions the current orientations in design, reflecting on the effervescence of this practice.
Entropic Design Display is a 2-level installation that questions the current orientations in design, reflecting on the effervescence of this practice.
On the first level, a tower with LED screens projects a random or calculated selection of 40 3D-modeled objects, representing different directions that designers may take in their daily practice. Mirrors attached to the tower invite viewers to question their own position in relation to these shifting balances. Leading down to the basement, a series of cables connects the tower to a device displaying text that can be interpreted as the output or input of this visual orchestration.
Seeking to go beyond the simplicity of frontal oppositions, without falling into unproductive relativism, the installation examines the ambivalence of design, without judgment or preconception, and gives an account of the fertile state of unsteadiness that defines this practice. A systematic reflection made up of tensions and debates, which raises issues about our relationship with doubt and holds the promise of an exciting effervescence and an almost anachronistic optimism.
