Making an invisible battery technology tangible through design.

Pulsetrain’s technology works deep inside the battery, where no one can see it. Since 2024, we have shaped its identity, imagery and website to make that intelligence legible to investors, manufacturers and future partners.

Context

Founded in Munich in 2022, Pulsetrain develops a battery system that merges management, inverter and charging electronics into a single unit inside the pack. Software and AI drive targeted pulses to each cell, so batteries can last longer, charge faster and run safer, from two-wheelers to commercial vehicles. When we met the team, the company had just changed its name and was preparing its seed round. Its communication was still written for engineers.

Mission

We began with a workshop and a visit to the team’s site, to understand the technology before drawing anything. Three pillars came out of it: the system, the R&D behind it and its impact across sectors.
They led to one simple idea for the identity: a plus sign for the extra life the technology gives each battery, drawn with the curve of a moving vehicle. The wordmark tells the other half of the story by bringing out the AI already inside Pulsetrain’s name.

Outcome

The identity now runs across the brand guidelines, website and communication tools, with a restrained palette and typography that leave room for the technology.
Our ongoing imagery work follows the same discipline: battery cells stay in the background, vehicles turn translucent to reveal the system inside, and a modular grid shows one technology adapting to every power level and sector. Each new visual extends a language the team can now use on its own.
