Giving solid-state batteries a tangible visual narrative.
From a centralized system to a distributed and scalable architecture, we rebranded Moonwatt to showcase how their breakthrough technology could help harness the power of the sun to be used deep in the night.
Context
Moonwatt's founding team first met inside Tesla's Energy division in 2016. Over the following decade, they deployed stationary storage that proved renewable power could be dispatched around the clock. These deployments became the foundation for Moonwatt, founded in 2024.
Moonwatt produces modular battery storage for utility-scale solar plants that can deploy directly under solar panels; and scales incrementally, without the civil infrastructure conventional systems demand.
Mission
Moonwatt’s product carries technical complexity that is not immediatly visible: sodium-ion chemistry, passive cooling, modular and scalable architecture. Moonwatt approached Units to render these particularities understable, while creating a brand that was visually coherent and impactful to reach project developers, asset owners, and investors.
Outcome
The guiding idea was light carried into the night; solar power made continuous. Warm gradients became the visual language of transition, applied across scales and context the brand operates in. The product was shown both as precision hardware, where the engineering speaks for itself, and as infrastructure backbone, placed inside the utility-scale installations. We refined the logo to strengthen it, then brought everything together in a multi-page website.
