Building a French-made pergola, from its industrial design to its brand.

For Comintes, we developed Pergofrance as both a product and a brand, from the structure of a self-assembly pergola to the images and website used to present it.

Context

Comintes distributed imported garden equipment and wanted to develop a pergola manufactured in France.
That change called for more than a new supplier: the product had to make sense to produce locally, assemble at home and choose from a crowded market.
We studied Comintes’ existing pergolas alongside competing products to identify where the new range could improve its construction and establish a distinct visual identity.

Mission

We redesigned the pergola with round sections, fewer types of metal parts and polycarbonate panels that make the structure appear lighter.
Working with structural engineers, we developed the product, examined how its parts fit together and identified suppliers in France.
In parallel, we created the Pergofrance identity, photorealistic product images and a website. The product and its presentation were developed together so the design could be understood before entering production.

Outcome

The project brought Comintes from an imported product to a proposed range designed around French manufacturing.
Its reduced set of parts addressed assembly and production, while the curved structure gave Pergofrance a more contemporary presence.
A pre-production prototype brought the design into physical form; the identity, renderings and website gave the new brand a way to present it. Together, they established a product direction and a basis for bringing the range to market.
