A set of kinetic and light machines designed for festive events (raves, festivals, concerts) and aiming to immerse the participants in an atmosphere combining sensoriality, emotional charge and technicality.

Ambient Party Machines [A.P.M] is an immersive art installation designed for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design in Bordeaux. It is the outcome of a research on the perception of technology in the context of rave parties. The installation seizes the rave as a field of experimentation for the public, but also for the artists.

Festive events such as festivals or rave parties have brought people together for several generations. It is for these modern day theaters that the Ambient Party Machines have been designed. Envisioned as playgrounds, warehouses occupied during raves or festivals provide opportunities to reflect upon the concept of immersion, and question the individual or collective notion of time-linearity.

A.P.M. offers an artistic interpretation of these questions through an installation combining 5 machines. With the idea of working on metal skeletons dressed with light, we propose a modular and scalable system of visual effects responding to a variety of rave party intensities. In partnership with the FIMEB, we organized events so that DJs could take over our machines to create a musical and visual performance. The final goal of this installation aimed to immerse the participants in an atmosphere combining sensoriality, emotional charge and technicality.
